Artificial Intelligence (in Eng.)

This workshop aims at introducing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to an audience without a MINT (mathematics, informatics, natural science and technology) background. It explains the basics of ML/AI, its applications, limitations and ethical considerations.

YOU CAN EXPECT INSIGHTS INTO:

      • A general introduction to Mashine Learning (ML)/AI and how it works

      • Real-world applications of AI (e.g. healthcare, finance, recommendation systems (Netflix, Amazon), smart home, autonomous vehicles)

      • Understanding and recognizing the limitations of AI systems such as data dependence, bias, interpretability, generalization

      • Ethical considerations: bias and fairness, surveillance and data protection, job displacement, AI in warfare

      • ChatGPT – Basics of LLMs and prompting

    WHAT YOU CAN TAKE AWAY:

By the end of this workshop, you’ll grasp the fundamental concepts of AI/ML and understand what these technologies can and cannot do. SPEAKER

Niklas Khoss is a former neuroscientist who researched the somatosensory system and sought to decode the brain of the worm C. elegans. However, he was drawn to artificial intelligence to understand the “brain” of computers. As a data scientist and software developer, he ultimately discovered his true passion: teaching. Today, he is a freelance instructor offering programming courses specifically for scientists —one foot in research and the other in the digital world.
