Have you ever wondered how a digital idea becomes a tangible object? In this workshop, we’ll delve into the world of additive manufacturing. We’ll bridge the gap from simple online tools like Tinkercad to professional software like Blender, all the way to cutting-edge AI applications that transform 2D images into 3D models. After a concise theory session, you’ll get creative yourself: You’ll design your own model, learn how to optimize it for printing (“slicing”), and watch live as the first objects are created.
You can expect insights into
The basics of 3D printing: How does the technology actually work, and what’s important in the design?
Software diversity: An overview of everything from beginner tools to complex modeling and AI-supported model creation.
From slicing to printing: Professional tips for the right settings to ensure successful printing.
Hands-on session: Create your own model with individual support on-site.
Take aways
You’ll not only leave with the knowledge of how to plan and implement your own 3D projects, but you’ll also receive your physical model (in exchange for a small materials donation). Any designs that aren’t finished during the workshop will be printed for you afterward, so you can pick up your finished piece later at BOKU:Base.

SPEAKER
My name is Maximilian Roitner, and I study landscape planning and landscape architecture at BOKU (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna) and am a member of the student council. Since 2024, I have also supported the BOKU:BASE team as a student assistant in the field of entrepreneurship education. My passion lies in creative design: I have been working intensively with 3D printing for several years and have extensive experience in 2D and 3D design. I am fascinated by bringing digital designs to life, and I would like to share this knowledge with you in the workshop!
