This presentation will explore various ways to efficiently manage R&D projects from initial idea to finished product. Using practical examples from the presenter’s 10 years of experience at the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the theoretical background of his MBA at Texas A&M University, the presentation will examine the factors that can lead to the success or failure of innovation, research, and development projects.
What to expect:
- The focus will be on the IDEO process, which provides a framework for a “generic innovation process.”
What you can expect:
- The ability to summarize the critical success factors involved in developing new products and services.
- The ability to assess both “hard facts,” such as the correct application of creativity methods or a basic understanding of patenting, and “soft facts,” such as the connection between corporate culture and communication behavior for the success of R&D
- Capturing the individual steps of the IDEO process and applying them in later practical work
- More technically oriented students can use a basic set of business administration tools to understand cost-based decisions
- Holistic evaluation of an innovation process and consideration of top management decisions from the right perspective
